Uplifting Visually Impaired Students to Learn, Read, and Thrive

S&S Charity is partnered with Seva Bharati to uplift the students of the Roman and Catherine Lobo School for the Visually Impaired by expanding their access to inclusive learning tools, braille resources, and screen-reading technologies.

What's happening in Mangalore?

While many of us take reading and writing for granted, students at the Lobo School face unique barriers to learning. Limited access to updated braille books, screen readers, and other essential assistive technologies makes it difficult for visually impaired children to keep up in the classroom — let alone thrive. These students are driven, curious, and full of potential. But without the right tools, even the brightest minds can be left behind.

How is S&S Charity responding?

We believe that every child deserves an education that works for them — not against them. Through our collaboration with Seva Bharati, we’re taking direct action to create a more inclusive, empowering learning environment:

Assistive Education Tools: We’re funding updated braille textbooks, digital audio systems, and screen-reading software to ensure students can read, write, and engage independently — at school and at home.

Infrastructure Upgrade: Your support helped us introduce a modernized computer lab equipped with accessible technologies designed specifically for blind and low-vision learners.

Community-Centered Collaboration: During our recent trip to Mangalore, we had the opportunity to meet with the dedicated students and their teachers. All equipment was sourced and implemented in close partnership with their guidance and input. It was truly a blessing to witness their hard work, determination, and growth firsthand as they continue striving toward success.

Cost & Impact: During our time working on this project, we donated a total of ₹150,000 ($1,750). This contribution supports expanded educational access for entire classrooms of students — and the return on that investment is immeasurable. You're helping children read, learn, express themselves, and succeed.
